I challenge my students with difficult readings of the great authors of the past because sublime language and ideas produce sublime individuals. I have pulled from Moby-Dick, Nietzsche, Plato, Aristotle, Jung, Orwell, Douglass, DIckinson, Sartre, Homer, MIlton, Ellison, Gilman, The Twilight Zone and even Superhero films and media.
We do not simply read or consume; we discuss and dissect what great texts are trying to teach us about today. We use great works to learn about the greatness that is potentially within us all.
